A friend invited me to this event, when it was about three days to the actual date of the event.

Being a person who is into films, and also loves Ugandan films, I decided to accept the invite by my friend, to go watch these short films by "That Malcolm Guy."

So, on Thursday 7th June, 2018, I made my way to The Square to watch this collection of short films, by Malcolm Bigyemano, who also by the way, I happened to attend the same High School with.

I left home at about 6:15pm, hoping to reach by 7pm, but the city traffic slowed me down a little, and I reached at about 7:30pm.

When I reached, I could see that the venue was already filled to capacity, as more people kept on arriving.

At the entrance, my friend was already waiting for me, and we went straight to take our seats.

Being that the event was at the rooftop area, as the rain started to fall, it affected the event screening.

Quickly, the organizers decided to shift the equipment and seats for us to have the event screening at the same rooftop area, but now right at the entrance of the rooftop area, where there was a ceiling covering.

After everyone taking their seats, and we had all settled in, the event host for the night welcomed everyone, as Malcolm Bigyemano, the man of the night, who was behind the short films, made his way to the front and gave us a sneek peek into what to expect from his movies.

Four films were showcased that night.

The films were “Pregnant woman stabs husband dead”, “Jethro by Jethro”, “Mawe”, and his fourth film was a film he did as a final year project while studying Film and Media Production at The University of Cape Town.

The people that graced the event screening included, Ernest Bazanye, a Ugandan journalist, blogger, author and script writer, and writer with The New Vision, actresses; Diana Kahunde who acted as “Annette” in the first season of “The Hostel” Television series that aired on NTV Uganda, and Esther Whitney Komweru, who acted as “Evelyn” in “Deception” Television series that aired on NTV Uganda.

I loved all his film works, though, personally, my favourite was “Mawe”.

The movie that is in Rutooro centers around a conversation between two friends, actresses, Diana Kahunde, and Esther Whitney Komweru, as the writer portrays typical “girl talk”, or rather, conversations that women have; work, their life experiences, relationships, and their love life.

The movie has quite an interesting twist as it approaches the end. Its one movie you will definitely find interesting!

I must say, Malcolm Bigyemano is one of those promising film makers to look out for, as he has such incredible work.

We surely look forward to watching a full length feature film, and series, if possible.

His work is the type that would definitely stand out, both Nationally and Internationally.

You can be able to find out more information about his works, and how you can access a copy of his short films, by dropping an inbox on their Facebook page; “That Malcolm Guy’s Shorts.”

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
