One evening on a work day, I happened to be seated with a friend as we filled in the Youth Livelihood Program forms.
As we are seated, this black-sleek-brand new Range Rover Sport (am guessing it was the 2016 model), comes and parks right next to where we were.
We of course turn to look at this shinny exquisite black car right in front of us, and we quickly switch back to our discussion and business. (I mean, wouldn’t we all do the same thing if you were in our shoes ;) )

Moving on; so as we continue to discuss more about our business plans, I hear the sound of the door slum shut.
I turn and see a gentleman who looked anything between his late 50s to early 60s.
I once again turn back to our discussion, trying to avoid the new distraction.
After a while, I see that this gentleman had come with another gentleman, who happened to be slightly younger or within the same age bracket as he was.
So, as we continue with our two person discussion, I see right from the corner of my eye that these two gentlemen were walking straight into our direction.
After a while, they sit just one and a half meters away from where we are having our discussion.

At this moment, the gentleman who first alighted from the car, greets us, and my friend and I go straight back into our discussion.
They call the waitress who comes and takes their order.
They order for pancakes.
After a short while, he offers us some of their pancakes. We accept and eat.
Oh, and yes, they were really delicious.
After we were done with the first round pancakes he had given us, he offers to give us more pancakes, which we eat once again.
Now, what we had not realized, was that this gentleman all the while had been eaves dropping on our discussion, enough to know, that we were creating a business plan for our new project.
He asks if he could kindly interrupt us, and give us some of his thoughts on our business plan.
Now, all I can say is, my friend, and I were wowed by how much wisdom and knowledge this gentleman shared with us.
He went as far as telling us his story and experiences right from the time he left High School to what it was like back in his days, leaving Uganda to study in a University in a foreign Country outside Africa.
He went ahead to tell us about the great business he started, which actually gave him most of the wealth he has up to to date. This definitely left us with a lot of food for thought.

Of course, once in a while, we would interrupt him with a few questions here and there, making the conversation longer than we had all anticipated.
I decided to write about this because I realized...; there is something that comes with listening to knowledge...wisdom that comes from a humble, wealthy old man like this gentleman who was seated right in front of us.
He gave us just a little about his life, but enough to open our eyes.
Continuing the story... after a while, his friends came by, and they had a brief chat and he later left.
My friend and I were later joined by another colleague of ours.
As night started to fall, we decided it was time for us to leave, as we had other engagements.
At the end of the day, a thought popped up in my mind, "Imagine a situation where the older generation is given a platform to mentor the younger
generation... it would save many young people from repeating the same old mistakes made by the older generation in all areas/aspects of life.
That is in terms of finances and business, relationships, family and marriage, personal development, career among many other things." Just think about it.
How many times do we make mistakes and always say, "I wish I had known..." or "I wish I had known this before, I would have done this differently"
The saying is true that
As one grows older, the wiser they become.
From their life experiences, there is a lot of knowledge, wisdom and mentoring they can offer to the younger generation.
