I rarely hear about Romantic African Films telling an African Love Story being shot by African Film Makers.

Films usually that are shot by African Film Producers majorly highlight the struggles that take place in Africa.

Things like the perils/effects of poverty, corruption, disease, politics and crime.

Rarely do I see or hear Africans shooting, or producing a romantic comedy.

Sometime, last year, around May, I happened to have seen a movie poster of Mrs. Right Guy as I scrolled through my Instagram feed.

Dineo Moeketsi, who is also the main actress in the movie had posted about the Movie Premier, and I thought to myself,

“This looks like it’s going to be one hell of a movie.”

Now, let me ask you one question; Have you watched “Mrs. Right Guy?”

Woahh! If you haven’t watched this movie, then I don’t know what you are waiting for.

Over here in Uganda, I got the opportunity to watch the Mrs. Right Guy movie at The African Movie Night, that happens at The National Theatre in kampala.

I must say, right from the beginning to the end, it was interesting and kept me entertained. The South African movie was directed by Adze Ugah, produced by Cati Weinek, Makopi Shale, Khetiwe Ngcobo and Dumi Gumbi.

Iam not doing a review of the movie, but am going to be telling you 5 things that stood out for me about the movie.

  1. The Fashion was right on Point. (Yass! Especially for the ladies)

I loved all the outfits worn by Dineo Moeketsi and Thando Thabethe. Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo’s haircut and outfits were also on point.

We loved every bit. We got to applaud the wardrobe department. They did a great job.

I noticed however that at times, some of the ladies like Thando Thabethe appeared to be uncomfortable with wearing heels, especially, the scene after Gugu (Dineo Moeketsi), Anna (Thando Thabethe) and Thabang (Tau Maserumule) were walking on the street after a meeting with their boss Dumile (Thapelo Mokoena).

Thando Thabethe appeared to be uncomfortable with the heels she was wearing. Probably they were a little too high... (But we ladies sympathize with her, because walking in heels really fast is never that easy!)

We loved the makeup. It was subtle, but just enough. It carefully accentuated their faces and it made them look awesomely stunning.

2. The coloring, lighting, and video editing. These clearly set the mood right, and made the movie come out as beautifully as it did.

3.The beautiful scenery. Right from the advertising firm where they worked, right to the beach where Dumile takes Gugu on a work trip, it really was breath taking.

4. The Soundtracks. These were carefully chosen and placed perfectly into the movie.

5. The conversation between Gugus Grandmum, her friends and Joe as he waited for Gugu to get back from work.

You can always learn a thing or two from a movie.

Among the many things I liked, and picked out of this movie, was this conversation.

Gugu's grand mum gave a comparison between what relationships and dating was like in their days, and what its like today.

She mentioned that we ladies these days are so quick to jump into bed with any man, unlike back in their day, where the ladies always had to play hard to get, and had to make a man prove that they really loved them.

There had been lots of laughter in the theater hall as different scenes came on, but I noticed that right about this moment, the theater hall was filled with a loud applause as almost everybody seemed to clap in approval. :)

Well ladies, let’s not just clap in approval, but let’s put this into action. ;)

Now... I know many of you must be wondering where you can purchase this movie from.

You can purchase the film online, or get it from your nearest video library.
