The Uganda Film Council held a meeting for film stakeholders, specifically Cinematographers and producers on Saturday 11th March 2017 at the National Theater (Green Room).

Being an actress, and blogger, I decided to attend the meeting.

So, the meeting whose main purpose was “making film a profitable venture, and making the industry a profitable career" started a little later than it was originally supposed to because most people had delayed to arrive at the venue.

Nonetheless, we started with a prayer, and we went on straight into the meeting. Now, am majorly going to point out the things that stood out for me at this meeting.

I liked the fact that the Chair mentioned that it was very important that the filmmakers and producers, as well as the other stakeholders, to unite in order for them to succeed in the film business.

The Chair mentioned that there was need to be organized through creating a strong structure where the various stakeholders would be able to express themselves i.e. their problems and solutions as regards the film industry; “tulina kukwasaganyiza wamu.”

The meeting also aimed at creating strong organized structures that would help to do the marketing.

This is because many film makers usually face a challenge of getting low profits after investing a lot of their money into the whole filming and production process.

Thereafter was a discussion about how to make selling movies /films a business, and also the need to develop a transparent marketing policy which will help all Ugandan Film stakeholders to ably monitor their profits.

The same course called for the utilization of Professional Guilds and developing an organized distribution Structure.

The realization of this dialogue will bring about a new dimension in Uganda's film industry.

However, this calls for harmony and collective management among stakeholders.
